Rose Colored Glasses

There's a song my dad used to sing when I was little about the ocean and rose colored glasses. I don't remember the lyrics, but I remember telling him it was so silly to think that how you feel about someone could change the way you look at them and the world. And growing up, the whole 'rose colored' glasses was something people insisted as a negative. Me being me, I never looked at it that way. I thought the idea of someone being so important the color everything about life was exciting. Whether they be a friend or more.        You guys may have noticed I've been off the grid for awhile. I'll be honest, I can't count the times I would open my blog browser and stare at it and all the unfinished drafts. I'd click on one and type a word or two, then delete them and close the tab. What's going on, Kit? No material?  *sigh* I wish it was so. I've had material, pretty good material, for around 3 weeks now. But there's been so much emotion tie...

An Open Letter To Girls Like Me

Image
You can make it. It might seem like it’ll take forever. Somedays you’ll fall. But you can get back up again. If you can’t get the words out of your mouth, write them on paper until it screams for you. If you feel alone in the dark, remember you have the light of your Savior to brighten the path.   I get it. If you’re anything like me at all, you’re sometimes the girl who avoids the spotlight, but wants to be noticed so badly. The girl who wants to see everyone smile, but it’s not always easy to do so yourself all the time. The girl who hopes the people she care about get exactly what they’ve prayed for, even if she doesn’t get it all the time. The girl who sometimes doesn’t always feel like being nice to everyone, sometimes she wants to hurt them back. The girl who still hasn’t learned to stop caring what people think. The girl who isn’t sure how to deal with failure, because it’s bound to happen. Some days it feels great right? It feels like life is charmed, and what cou...

Let's Talk Books! (Many Reviews of My Latest Reads)

Image
Ok! So I thought I'd go back to my roots today and write some book reviews. It's been awhile since we did these, so I thought I'd do a few mini ones and also throw in an update on how my reading goals are going. If you guys remember from my first post of the year with Vicky (who promises to write for us soon -_-), I made a deal with myself to keep track of my reading and also to read 120+ books this 2018! So, recap!       January:          Books Read-3     1. The Winner's Crime  by: Marie Rutkoski           This is the 2nd book in a series so I won't disclaim much BUT. The worldbuilding! The angst! The sheer heartripping beauty of it! It's a wonderful fantasy sort of book, with some great plot lines. I recommend it deeply, rating it.....4.5 stars!      2. The Hate U Give  by: Angie Thomas             I avoided this book for SO long ...

Bending Over Backwards

Alright guys, it's Kit here. Today's post is going to be somewhat political for those of you not interested in that sort of thing. I'm going to be talking about a specific event that happened in Canada not long ago, where a woman speaking to their prime minister was corrected for using the word 'mankind'. She was corrected and they suggested she use 'people kind' to be more inclusive. Along with this, they've changed the lyrics of their national anthem to be more 'gender neutral'. Please keep in mind, what comes next is MY opinion, and however strongly I express it, I do not expect all of you to agree with me.     Opinions on inclusivity and gender neutrality in our world seem to be the core measure of character nowadays. Lord forbid one dare to suggest that the changing of a word simply because it references to men is completely ridiculous. Nor may one even dream of suggesting that the change of something as important as a national anthem is a...

My Secret Identity: Millenial

Image
Their smiles were warm, shining lights from the moment I came into this world. Kind eyes below halos of warm brown and black. I called them Mom and Dad.      Quick turn of topic there, maybe. But Guardian Angels is exactly what I think parents should be deemed. They've been there since we began, through our first toddling steps to bruises on knees, heartbroken tears, failure and disappointments. They've welcomed us back with open arms, nudged us onto the right path when we begin to stray, and all the while made us laugh at ourselves when we need it.     Why this blog post? I'm going to be completely honest with you here, guys. I am *shudders* a millennial teenager. Millennials are people born from the 1980s to early 2000s. It's a title that's been given a negative connotation over the last few years, and I will be blunt when I say, for good reason. It's a sad thing, the fact most of us ARE unmotivated or selfish or entitled in one way or another. And ...

Things We Take For Granted (EVERYTHING)

Image
Hey everyone, it's Kit! I am so sorry Vicky and I have been so inconsistent in our postings lately, but thanks to those of you who read the blog! Your support means everything, and like the title says, is one of the things we are prone to taking for granted so-shout out- thank you!😉       Anyway, I'm here to share a couple of points on the idea that we humans tend to be a little blind to the small things that keep our world spinning. But first, the backstory to this whole shindig. As I already shared, my family and I were in the path of Hurricane Irma. In the midst, we happened to lose power. It was tragic. Phones were dead, AC was gone, the whole package deal. Anyone who lives in a hot climate can relate. Those of you who don't.....just imagine your heater went out. But the opposite. Anyway, I was a complete grump. A brat. I was sticky, tired, and worst of all-BORED. Boredom. It's an epidemic that has permeated every teenager in our world. W...

In The Eye of The Storm

Andrew. Katrina. Wilma. All names of hurricanes that have torn through our world, destroying cities and homes. Harvey and Irma are soon to be added to this list. I personally, live in the path of Irma, and it's the scariest thing to even think about the damage that they're doing. Preparations, prayers, panic. All three are things that have been swirling through the minds of Floridians, and those in Georgia and South Carolina. Normally, I would be a nervous wreck. But strangely enough, I'm cool as a cucumber.         Some people would accredit this to the fact that I've encountered storms of the like before. Others might say it's part of my personality, or pure ignorance. But it isn't any of those things. How can I say this? Well, for starters, the last storm I truly went through was 12 years ago. And I have very vague memory of it. Personality wise, I'm prone to howling and wailing and falling apart at the nearest sign of trouble. It's unlike me to co...
